I treat art as one of the finest way to communicate my very intuitive understanding of existence. The process of creating is like a journey through contemplative moments blessed by intellectually unpolluted vision. In natural way the unknown harmony is born and able to exist on its own. It always feels to me like being a messenger only.
MEDIUM
In most cases I have utilized old photo prints, posters as well as my own prints of digital collages. The main creative process of artistic transformation is continued in conventional manner through use of oil or acrylic paint, graphite pencil or airbrush and usually under completion the primary subject is literally nonexistent. Due to fact that I never plan the final outcome, it could take a month before I have decided that transformation of particular piece is finished.
THE RESULT
My images heavily depends on achieving photographic effect, which would represent the quality of so called ‘real world’, however after closer inspection there is nothing common to identify with. Their abstract nature tends to confront many established views also I would call myself poet rather than rebel.
MYSELF
This time my conscience was trapped in a body of Polish boy blessed by loving family. Oblivious to the fact that most cruel and senseless global conflict in the human history ended just a decade ago I was consuming happily my childhood surrounded by half ruined city of Wroclaw, counting squeaking trams and cars or playing football with other kids.
If I was to point a moment when my creative side kicked in it must be the day when I saw Mickey Mouse and friends in action on my parents first black & white TV set. I felt in love instantly and started to scribble their images tirelessly on anything flat enough until I have mastered it to perfection. You can probably notice the reminiscence of that obsession in many of my works. It was a real mind opener as I have discovered I can actually draw a lot of other things too and if you mix such skills with my slightly daydreamer personality you end up with typical picture of an artist to be.
Twenty years later I have landed in local Academy of Fine Arts just in time to take part in student anti-government strikes. Due to fact that most of our professors were arrested we started to occupy the school building for a few weeks joining the common trend of the entire country. Everyone felt that something permanently cracked and just need a little push. Those few weeks were euphoric in any way. Strange installations grew up daily on every floor to the beats of reggae or punk rock, tastefully wrapped up in funny smelling smoke. I will always treasure those inspirational moments, as not many art schools would ever consider such a “days off”.
Over next few years in academy I have established my very own technique of incorporating existing prints as primary background in my works, perfecting it and experimenting with until now. After participating in few exhibitions I realized that my sense of humor was not quite suitable for current situation in Poland and having no illusion about my artistic future there I just left to Berlin and later London.
Since then I am trying to share my artistic views all over the world.
